This is the recommended and safe method for firmware upgradation. There are lot more ways to upgrade Cisco IP phone firmware, I would like to share all possible ways one by one. Well, other possible methods will be posted soon in UCCollaborationGeek. Why do we need a firmware Upgrade?

Most of the time Cisco TAC engineers suggest to upgrade firmware to meet some bug fixes, errors, etc. I have upgraded the firmware from SCCP Great care must be taken before upgrading phone from the call manager. Then the phone go for firmware upgrade process when it sees new firmware name there. So, copy the new firmware name and put it in a Note pad. Now replace the new firmware to old one that we copied in Step 3 Note: Upgrade Firmware for Cisco IP Phone Navigate the Phone Load Name section in the Phone configuration page of the device which you want to upgrade and paste the new firmware file name over there. Now go ahead and restart the phone!
