The word is out, Maleficarum is out there in our DVD store, and for downloads As the 31st of October enters through the gates of time with witches galore, the world begins to download Maleficarum. As I began to write this post the countdown for Maleficarum read 9 days We were working very, very hard getting all those many details ready. Jane was so stressed out that she got sick while Mila appeared to be extremely quiet, doing her job as if no one else existed We thought she was mad at us or something.

JJ, in the meantime was on the verge of a breakdown but we could hardly notice because he kept his cool but we all knew that the clock was ticking inside of his head and as he went through the film he wished he had another 9 months to make it perfect. That's the life of filmmakers.. The release of Maleficarum is a big deal for us, for sure.

Is it bigger than other releases present, past, future? Not really, but it's special because it's different. Because it's a crossover movie.

We were going to have a screening with the execs some time ago, but a family matter for JJ forced him to postpone that screening, he requested for a day Mir two later but the Cinemateque was in the middle of preparing two festivals so they decided for the Wednesday after that.

But when JJ, Mila and Beto went to the screening, they found out that due to the cinemateca's confusing times, the screening was canceled. Their guy in charge of the Media told them that the film will be shown there and that they want to do a lot of promotion. Next day Beto, who is our associate producer and inquisitor, got word that this coming Monday 31st, the programmers at the Cinemateca will be scheduling the film anyway, without seeing it.

So, after we release the film online we will know when and if in Hungarian we use the same word for both MEG the film will have a theatrical run. If it does, we will have a premiere, yes, as a press event with guests, mostly cast, crew and friends By then most of our fans would have seen the movie However we're prepared to be rejected. Seeing the film as it is, one gets the feeling that it's a hard film to watch and to accept. What are we riding with this film?

No, even if it feels that way. The adventure of making this movie was rewarding enough. We pulled it off and we're very proud of that fact. We feel accomplished in ways that are impossible to measure. We feel that we can release this movie and watch it go wherever the wind takes it.

That's exciting to us. What drove us nuts was having a deadline. A date when the film must be ready for downloads. That was the stressing part, but it was also fun watching us suffer for our art. Now it's up to the technology, the Internet connections, the postal service It's up to the delivery system, our work is done.

We're extremely happy that we had the opportunity to do this and we're grateful for the encouragement from everyone here but most importantly the big push Ralphus gave to the project. This movie happened because he believed in us. That's the honest truth. We were doing other things, we were preparing to shoot Barbazul and that was it for last year. Gabrielle was scheduled to arrive in November and we were all set, our crew was ready, so was the script and the cast, when suddenly Jane told JJ that there was an offer on the table for the inquisition movie that JJ had in mind for the future.

We took the offer but we did one better, we decided to make it bigger than originally planned. One year later to the date, we were wrapping up the last of the post production, working 15 hrs a day and it was crazy here, but at the same time it was and it is exciting. The movie is on its way where it belongs and we are curious to know what the reaction will be to the movie.

And for what I'm reading here Maleficarum happened because everything fell into place. A few years back Jane and JJ were talking about making an inquisition movie, JJ mentioned a place he knew, a club that looked like a dungeon.

They talked to the guy that was running the club and he was interested in renting it to them for three days, from Sunday to Tuesday, the days he wasn't open for biz. Time passed and then when the idea returned, when Ralphus offered a big incentive. JJ went to check if the club was available The club moved out. We rented it for a few months. Meanwhile, a friend of JJ gave an acting workshop and asked JJ a favor, to hold a screen test for her actors as part of their training.

Suddenly we had all the actors we needed. Not to mention Mila a newly found actress who was going to start her acting in La Jaula, a film that was postponed indefinitely to work in Maleficarum. The rest fell into place with such an ease that it was scary. Maleficarum was meant to be. We're beyond the good old days of shooting, the days when Mila learned what the whip felt like on her soft and tight skin, the days when Jane was preparing herself to be roasted on a spit, a torture she was not completely sure she wanted to go through.

It was a year ago, to be exact, when we started this adventure. A crazy time of production where we came up with three feature films. It was on the 17th of October when the cameras started rolling.

Those were the nice days. We just went through the terrible days of pre-release, painful, stressful, anxiety filled days where JJ had to get a big supply of Vitamin C and lots of beer.

We are wondering how will the film be received. We know we'll be criticized. We know the critics, if they don't ignore us, will tear the film to pieces and not because it's badly made, but because of the subject matter, and we're ready for that.

We expect it, we welcome it. We know our fans will go crazy, they are already going crazy, the second the film appeared in the DVD store, we started selling DVDs And as much as everyone worked hard to make this film a beauty to behold, we know we won't make everybody happy, especially because of the high expectations that we're generating, however, we think a lot of people will love it.

We're counting on that and not because of sales, we don't really worry about that too much. This was a labor of love and sacrifice, it was a painful, really painful experience for our courageous heroines, particularly Jane who sat on that wooden, sharp, splintery Spanish Horse and experienced what a barbeque would feel like for a chicken if the chicken was alive but without its protecting feathers.

Maleficarum is our collective child and we're proud of it, really proud, but scared as any parent is when the child leaves the comforts of home to face the big, wide, cold world. We can just hope that the film will find a home, hundreds, thousands, millions of homes where it will be loved. We loved making this movie so much that we want to make more like this, not less.

We see the happy faces of our cast and crew who are just proud to be part of this and we know we have to continue working and that's what we're planning now. The initial reaction to the DVD sales was just great, so we're going to be looking into what happens with the VOD and we'll start working on our future plans.

We haven't done anything other than Maleficarum for many weeks now, so all our plans were on hold, but now we're looking into that and on the crystal ball that tells us what we can do soon. It's interesting to read those pre game comments, not only those made by Ralphus, but all the comments, including those we get in our private e-mails.

That's really, really nice. But it's also scary. I know Jane will hate the next episode of Twilight I just know it. And I know why. It will not live up to her expectations of a good vampire movie. If there were no expectations whatsoever, the movie would blow people's minds big time, really, more, a lot more than when we came up with Red Feline on The Cross, which blew people's minds in ways that we did not anticipate.

But there are big, huge, expectations and that's scary. But we know we did something very, very big, even if we didn't have a million dollars and all the dream equipment we hope to have in the future.

We did a lot more for the money, lots, lots more and we learned one thing, that we can. We simply can pull off a big, complex, production with few resources. Oh the things we're dreaming about now Jess Franco, move over, Jane and JJ are here. Red Feline is here. And now a little surprise, a one minute trailer with a lot of stuff from the movie and a bit of news. And so, the time has arrived! If you see some typos here
